Privacy Policy

smooshr was built from the ground up with your privacy as the first priority. We collect as little as possible, store only what's necessary to run the service, and have designed the system so that even we cannot read your answers.

What We Collect

We collect no personal information — no name, email address, phone number, or account credentials of any kind. The only data we store is:

  • Session records — A randomly generated couple code and two blobs of encrypted answer data (one per partner), stored in a local SQLite database.
  • Timestamps — When a session was created and last updated, for housekeeping purposes only.

We do not use cookies for tracking, analytics platforms, advertising networks, or any third-party data processors.

How Your Answers Are Protected

Your individual responses are encrypted before being saved. The encryption key is derived from your couple code — a secret known only to you and your partner. This means:

  • Without the couple code, the encrypted data is unreadable — including by us.
  • Your individual answers are never visible to your partner or anyone else.
  • Only mutual matches are computed and returned — we never expose which items you rejected.

If you lose your couple code, your session cannot be recovered. There is no password reset, no admin access, and no backdoor.

Data Retention

Sessions are stored indefinitely unless manually deleted. We may periodically purge sessions older than 12 months with no activity. Without the couple code, the data is permanently inaccessible — effectively deleted.

Third Parties

We do not sell, rent, share, or transfer any data to third parties. We do not use:

  • Google Analytics or any analytics service
  • Facebook Pixel or advertising trackers
  • Any third-party authentication (OAuth, social login)
  • Any external APIs that receive user data

Age Requirement

smooshr is intended for adults aged 18 and older. By using this service, you confirm that you meet this requirement. If you believe someone under 18 has accessed the service, please contact us immediately.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy occasionally. If we make significant changes, we will update the effective date above. Continued use of the service constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
